For Android mobile devices, we can install video player like Easy Video Player, Mobo Video Player, VPlayer on our devices, as they all can play MKV movies and videos on the Android smartphones or tablets, and more interesting is they can display the subtitles when we are playing MKV on our Android devices, so when you know this you'll get it easy to play your favorite MKV movies or videos on your phone like Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note , Motorola RAZR , etc. tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 7.0 , etc. .
For iOS mobile devices, we have no method to transfer MKV movies and videos to the devices like New iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S or the future iPhone 5 and iPad Mini if we don't jailbreak them, so there are none ways to play MKV movies and videos on iPhone and iPad with a video player on them. The only way is convert the MKV movies to MP4(H.264) or MOV movies with a video converter, and then put the converted MKV movies and videos in iTunes for syncing to iPhone and iPad, then we can play them on the devices for pleasure.
However, there's a little pity that we can only keep single subtitle when we convert MKV movies to MP4 or MOV with great video converters, and the bad thing is we'll lose subtitles when we convert the MKV movies with some free video covnerters.
For Windows mobile devices, it seems the best way of playing MKV movies and videos with Windows Phone like Lumia 800 , Lumia 900, Lumia 610 , Lumia 710 , etc. is convert MKV to AVI, WMV or MP4 , and then use Zune to sync the converted MKV movies and videos to them for watching, as there is difficult to find a good video player app which can play MKV movies for Windows Phone so far.
So in a word, the usual way of playing MKV on our mobile devices is convert MKV to MP4(H.264) and then transfer the covnerted MKV files to them , then we can watch those MKV files on mobile devices, and in fact, we can also do it as the same on BlackBerry devices and Symbian devices. And this is the best way of watching MKV movies on smartphones, tablets so far, because the MKV is still a new container for videos or movies, and there are little devices accept it directly due to it can contain multiple different video formats, audio formats and subtitles with different languages.
